Genoa, Nev. — It’s Election Day in California, so residents of Alpine and Mono counties will be casting ballots in local races and the presidential primary. Meanwhile, early voting continues in Douglas County through Friday. We’ll wrap up our election next Tuesday.
A proposal to purchase a parcel of land adjoining the eastern portion of Heritage Park will go before Gardnerville Town Board members at their regular meeting 4:30 p.m. today. The Town Board meets at the town offices on Main Street.
A Genoa man who crashed a vehicle during a late-night pursuit in the Gardnerville Ranchos is scheduled to be arraigned in Douglas County District Court this morning. Wesley Weigand, 30, waived a preliminary hearing in May and is facing a count of felony eluding.
The high temperature is expected to hit 91 today as warm temperatures continue. A low pressure front is moving into California, but we’ve had those bounce off before. If it punches through, we’ll see highs in the 70s over the weekend. If it’s any consolation, the record for today is 98 degrees set in 2013.The record for June 6 was 99 degrees set in 1926.
