Genoa, Nev. — A retirement party for long-time Minden Elementary School second-grade teacher Shari Chappell filled up Minden Park on Tuesday night. A Douglas High School graduate herself, Chappell taught for 30 years.
Minden’s efforts to slow down traffic on Wildrose hit a speedbump with residents petitioning the town to remove the southernmost traffic device. One resident likened the noise of vehicles hitting the bump as similar to a rumble strip on the highway. The town board voted to remove the device.
Douglas County commissioners are scheduled to discuss creating a board for the East Fork Fire District. The ordinance will require two votes by the county board. Also up today is a presentation by the state on road projects in the county. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden.
It’s supposed to be another hot day today with the high climbing to 88 degrees before the west wind picks up this afternoon. Expect breezy conditions 5-10 mph, increasing to 15-20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph.
