The R-C Morning Report for June 12
There were 80 people packed into the Johnson Lane Volunteer Fire Station on Wednesday night for a sewer and water rate hike utility. It took a little more than an hour for Public Works Director Carl Ruschmeyer to finish his presentation.
The Pony Express reride is due in Woodfords at 9 a.m., and will ride along the west side of the Valley arriving in Genoa at about lunchtime. Last report I have from http://www.xphomestation.com is that they crossed Brockliss Bridge 43 minutes ahead of schedule at 10:10 p.m. With last night’s bright moon, they could have made good time through the Sierra from Sacramento, so expect them to run ahead of schedule.
The Carson Valley Days carnival opens to the public today at 5 p.m. You might still find some discount tickets out there, but you can’t use them for buddy night. Tonight, pay full price to get into a carnival and a friend can ride for free.
The red flag for extreme fire danger goes up today and stays up until 11 p.m. Friday. Expect 15-30 mph winds today, gusting to 45 mph this afternoon and won’t slow down much overnight. The high today is forecast to hit 84.
