The R-C Morning Report for July 6

Genoa, Nev. — Watch for slow moving thunderstorms today as a flash flood watch has been issued from noon to 9 p.m. today for much of Western Nevada.

When there aren’t thundestorms looming overhead, expect mostly cloudy skies and a high temperature today of 91 degrees. Rainfall amounts could hit a half-inch in places.

The Washington Fire is down to three hand crews, four engines and a couple of helicopters, which amounts to around 160 firefighters. It isn’t any bigger, and it’s not likely to get bigger at the rate its going. Containment date is July 31.

A man who set his car on fire to collect the insurance is up for sentencing in a gross misdemeanor fraud in District Court this morning. Bradley Steelmon, 27, faces up to 364 days in jail on the charge.
