The Lowell Fire is still burning near Interstate 80 and Gold Run, threatening 1,800 structures and forcing evacuations. Four firefighters have been injured, including one with serious burns. Meanwhile, the Kyburz Fire is 90 percent contained and firefighters expect to have it pretty well wrapped up by Wednesday. Highway 50 reopened on Saturday night.
There won't be as much smoke today as Sunday morning, thanks to lighter west winds. Expect sunny skies and a high temperature near 82 degrees. The wind will shift to the northeast this afternoon, according to the forecast.
