The R-C Morning Report for July 24
Genoa, Nev. — If you’re headed to California today, I would definitely go 88 or 80, or even 4 because as of this morning Highway 50 is still closed from Pollock Pines to Meyers, and there isn’t a good detour except to stay off 50. The Kyburz fire was at 100 acres at 9:33 p.m., so it might be bigger, or it might have laid down.
I’m not the only one who smelled smoke Thursday evening, so that wasn’t my imagination. If the Kyburz fire expands we may get more of that today.
Whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, there’s a barbecue for you this weekend. The Democrats are cooking in Mormon Station State Historic Park 2-5 p.m. Saturday in Genoa and the Republicans are 4-8 p.m. Sunday in Gardnerville. For more info go to douglasgop.com or pick up today’s copy of The Record-Courier.
Today will be a nice day with mostly sunny skies, a high near 85 degrees and the wind calm, but picking up out of the west at 5 mph in the afternoon.
