The R-C Morning Report for July 2
Genoa, Nev. — Two appeals of Planning Commission decisions will take up most of Douglas County commissioners’ time this afternoon. The main show will be Steve and Mary Walker’s appeal of a solar generation facility off their back fence on Park Cattle land north of the Minden-Gardnerville sewer pond. But the warm-up act will be an appeal of a cell phone tower county officials say is in the Minden-Tahoe Airport flight corridor.
Commissioners meet at 1 p.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden. The meeting times out at roughly four hours, but I wager that’s how long the solar debate will require. If the Internet Gods are kind, I’ll be online covering the action.
The man accused of the Chichester burglaries is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court this morning for a preliminary hearing. Christopher Bernal was chased down and captured after deputies swarmed the neighborhood.
Areas to the south got all the good rain on Wednesday, but today is another day. Thunderstorms remain in the forecast that could bring heavy rain pretty much anywhere this afternoon. Expect the most intense storms from 2-9 p.m. Today’s high will hit 96 degrees.
