The R-C Morning Report for Jan. 7
Genoa, Nev. — Road controls are in place for Highway 50 from Carson to Stateline, over Kingsbury and on Highway 395 from Jake’s Hill south to Spring Valley.
There’s an advisory warning motorists of slick conditions on the commute tonight and Thursday morning. Light precipitation and freezing temperatures could result in black ice on the roads. Today we’ve got freezing fog out, so it might be a good idea to take it slow today.
Douglas County commissioners will be delving back into Sierra Country Estates with a zoning map amendment on about an acre of the meadow to public facility for the future utility. There’s also a request to add a 24th unit to the project. I’m hoping for a short meeting this afternoon, but between that and board appointments, I’m not so sure.
Commissioners are also distributing community grants today distributing roughly $156,000 between a score of different organizations. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eight St., in Minden.
Recordcourier.com was down for five hours 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday after a server issue.
We had about a half-inch of snowfall overnight in Genoa. There’s a chance we’ll see some snow from scattered showers today, but after Wednesday, I’m staying away from the weather betting window. The high today is forecast to be 36.
