The R-C Morning Report for Jan. 6
Genoa, Nev. — Gardnerville Town Board members voted to keep plugging away at renovating the gas station in the S-Curve, in the hopes that at some point they can access more grants.
A rate study for Minden’s wholesale and retail water utility is up for discussion at the Minden Town Board. They’ll also be working on a plan to fill Charlie Condron’s seat. The town board meets 5:30 p.m. at the CVIC Hall.
If you’re driving into the mountains today, expect road controls. Both Kingsbury and Spooner have chains or snow tires required, as does Highway 50 all the way to Stateline and Highway 28 to past the state line. Highway 88 is closed for avalanche control from Carson Pass to 2 miles east of Kirkwood.
Carson Valley is under a freezing fog advisory until 9 a.m. this morning. I can see lights across the Valley, so it may not be too bad along Highway 395 down here. Watch out near the river.
According to the forecast, the weather won’t be that different from Tuesday with occasional snow showers, but not much sticking. Expect a high temperature of 35 degrees and the wind around 5 mph.
