The R-C Morning Report for Jan. 26

Genoa, Nev. — A Gardnerville man is scheduled to be arraigned on a felony theft charge today in Douglas County District Court. Daniel Redding, 23, was allegedly inside the Jacks Valley Target after closing.

Gardnerville topped the SmartAsset list on best places to retire in Nevada. Western Nevada locations occupied the top four spots, with Carson City, Fallon and Incline Village coming in second, third and fourth.

As usual, I question the definition of Gardnerville in one of these studies. I’m trying to figure out the 2.6 recreation centers per 1,000 people we allegedly have. Maybe they count casinos?

Coyotes are on the prowl around Carson Valley, with someone reporting a sighting up in Johnson Lane over the weekend. Coyotes will take a cat or small dog. Watch your animals and be careful out on the trail.

The weather’s just going to keep getting nicer through Thursday. Today expect sunny skies and a high temperature near 50. It will get warmer on Wednesday and Thursday as the next front approaches.
