The R-C Morning Report for Jan. 18

Genoa, Nev. — Chains or snow tires are being required over Kingsbury and Spooner this Martin Luther King Day, as well as most spots above the snow level. If you’re going over the hill today, Interstate 80, Highway 50 and Highway 88 all have controls on them.

The snow level is forecast to be around 6,000 feet, but fluctuating, according to the National Weather Service. It’s raining steadily in Genoa, with .14 inches falling so far.

Tahoe is under both a winter weather advisory and a flash flood watch near burn scars. I expect Alpine County near the Washington Fire burn may also see some flooding if the snow turns to rain.

This looks like our 100 percent chance of rain for the day. Expect today’s high temperature to hit 49 degrees with southwest winds 5-10 mph. The rain should clear around 10 a.m., but the clouds are here for a while.
