The R-C Morning Report for Jan. 15

Genoa, Nev. — There was enough snow at Lake Tahoe to require buses to put on chains, and prompting an hour delay for Zephyr Cove Elementary School students. Whittell High students don’t go to school on Fridays.

We’ll follow up on the search in the Pine Nuts from last night. It only just now hit freezing at the Fish Springs Volunteer Fire Department, but it started raining out there around 9:30 p.m.

If you’ve got pressing business with the government, best do it today, since Monday is Martin Luther King Day. Children will be out of school, banks will be closed and there won’t be any mail.

Heavenly’s reporting it got 19 inches of snow over the past 48 hours with a foot of that falling in the last 24 hours. There was a 53 mph wind gust at the airport at 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Today will see increasing clouds with a high temperature near 44 degrees. The wind will be out of the west at 10-15 mph slowing to 5-10 mph in the afternoon. There could be gusts of up to 25 mph today.
