Gardnerville, Nev. — The news focus shifts to the west side of the Valley today when planning commissioners hear the Gardners new plan for their 10 acres at the Genoa Lakes Ranch Course. Planning commissioners are scheduled to hear a request for 5.5 units per acre at their 1 p.m. meeting at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.

Tonight, Genoans will discuss how to clear the path between town and 1862 David Walley’s Hot Springs. No action is scheduled to be taken on the issue. Genoans meet 6:30 p.m. in the town offices.

County Manager Jim Nichols has postponed his participation in the R-C Morning Commentary until the March 9 session. I’ll save the questions I’ve received for then.

A Reno man who allegedly brandished a knife at a Walmart security officers is scheduled to be sentenced today in Douglas County District Court. Dylan Mitts, 24, is facing up to 1-6 years in prison for assault with a deadly weapon.

There was a 1.42 magnitude earthquake along Highway 395 near Leviathan Mine Road at around 6:22 a.m.

It’s sunny but cold out this morning, with the temperature right around 17 degrees. Expect blue skies and a high temperature of 48 today, with a chance of rain early Wednesday morning.
