The R-C Morning Report for Dec. 9

Genoa, Nev. — The Share Your Holiday Drive-by Food Drive will be in full swing at 6 a.m. this morning. If you miss the morning run, don’t worry, they’ll be out at the Carson Valley Inn until 6 p.m.

Genoa resident and Carson Valley contractor Al Shankle died the day after Thanksgiving, according to an obituary published earlier this week in the Orange County Register. His company built commercial structures in Ironwood and across the business parks around the Valley.

Unlike some of these mornings, the weather will be kind of balmy out, with Minden’s temperature at 45 degrees at 5:10 p.m. That means unlike Thursday there will be zero road controls out.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory starting 1 p.m. today, with winds out of the south-southwest at 15-30 mph gusting to 50-60 mph. Wind prone areas could see 70 mph.

That sturm und drang is expected to bring rain into Carson Valley through Saturday. We’ll see how that goes. Today’s high temperature is supposed to hit 56 as the front rolls in.
