The R-C Morning Report for Dec. 2

Genoa, Nev. — The $23,000 rehabilitation of Minden’s Well No. 1 tops a light town board agenda today. They’ll also be selecting new officers at their regular session 5:30 p.m. tonight in the CVIC Hall.

Douglas County Republican Women will be meeting 11 a.m. today at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden where the Douglas Dynamics, previously known as the Douglas High School Madrigals, will be performing. Cost of the show is $25.

The inversion kept air quality redlining through the night with unhealthy readings starting around 10 p.m. last night and pretty much lasting until 3 a.m. today.

That should get cleared out by Thursday’s storm. Forecasters have issued a wind advisory for all of Western Nevada from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. Southerly winds will be delayed coming to Carson Valley, but should pick up to 20-35 mph by Thursday afternoon. We could see a few 55-60 mph gusts on Thursday afternoon and evening.

What that means for Thursday night’s fireworks is still up in the air. The advisory covers a large area of Western Nevada and there could well be a lull sufficient for Gardnerville to light up the holiday. Even if the fireworks don’t go, they’ll have a nice party at Heritage Park.

It was a balmy 27 degrees out this morning at my house. Expect the high temperature today to hit 51 degrees. There will be a little breeze today, but that will disappear later this morning.
