The R-C Morning Report for Dec. 18

Genoa residents Linda Birdwell and Tim De Turk will find out today if they’re going to be Genoa Town Board members starting next year. There’s no reason why commissioners won’t approve them, seeing as there weren’t any other candidates. Steve Thaler’s replacement on the Minden Town Board, William Souligny, was approved at the Dec. 4 commission meeting.

County commissioners will also discuss rate decreases for the Cave Rock-Uppaway and Syland water systems. Skyland customers will see their average monthly bill drop from $114.23 to $84.56. At Cave Rock, customers’ average bill will go from $202.46 to $172.68 on Jan. 1, and then back up to $195.37 on July 1. Commissioners meet 1:30 p.m. at the Tahoe Transportation Center in Stateline.

There’s finally a forecast I’m confident reporting today with partly sunny skies and a high temperature of 47 degrees. Expect the wind to be out of the southwest at 5 mph. There’s a chance of rain on Friday, for what it’s worth.
