The R-C Morning Report for Dec. 16
Genoa, Nev. — The second atmospheric river in two weeks produced 2.3 inches north of Genoa, which appears typical for along the foothills. The DRI gauge got .65 inches and we had .31 inches at the airport.
A flood advisory expired at 6 a.m. today with most of the rivers cresting early this morning. The West Fork at Woodfords hit 13.59 feet at 4:30 a.m., which was just short of its 14-foot flood stage.
There’s not much in the way of road controls out this morning, but it may be early yet. The Kingsbury cam is showing a dusting of snow on the road, so it’s cold enough to stick. There are chain controls in California on Highways 50.
The California Highway Patrol reports that Carson Pass is closed as of 3:45 a.m. for avalanche control.
We might see snow showers this morning but not much in the way of accumulations. Expect partly sunny skies and a high of 36 degrees with the wind out of the west at 15 mph gusting to 25 mph.
