Genoa, Nev. — Today's shingle-stripping winds should have done their worst just in time for the arrival of the atmospheric river. The high wind warning is going until 4 p.m., and the rain is due starting at 10 a.m. and picking around drive time. The National Weather Service is calling for a quarter to half inch in Minden.

Labor agreements with the East Fork Fire Professional Firefighters Association and the battalion chiefs will be Douglas County commissioners last official acts as East Fork Fire Board members. Both contracts include salary freezes for most positions and combined come to $8.1 million.

Final reading of an ordinance cleaning up the language in county code when it comes to live entertainment and special events is also before commissioners at their regular meeting, 1:30 p.m. today at the Tahoe Transportation Center.

The meeting times out at two hours and 15 minutes, and will be the last one for commissioners Doug Johnson and Greg Lynn.

Expect mostly cloudy skies today with a high temperature near 61 degrees. It never got below 55 degrees last night, so there's not really that far to go to the high. The forecast calls for southwest winds 25-30 mph gusting to 55 mph in town.
