The R-C Morning Report for Dec. 12
There are nearly 2,000 people in Douglas County without electricity and more than 1,600 of them live at Lake Tahoe or in Glenbrook. Gardnerville still has 190 folks out and the Gardnerville Ranchos has another 115. There’s no time for restoration on the NV Energy website for those folks.
There are road controls over the passes, including Kingsbury, and the west side of Lake Tahoe. Bring chains if you’re driving over the Sierra this morning. Buses will stop at main stops only for Zephyr Cove Elementary students living in Tramway and Kingsbury Village area.
The Share Your Christmas Drive-Through Food Drive is well under way in Minden this morning. If you’ve got some food to drop off it will be open until 6 p.m. If you miss it, just go to the Carson Valley Food Closet on Waterloo in Gardnerville.
We’re gathering storm reports for Sunday’s paper so if you’ve got a photo or a story go ahead and send it in to email@example.com.
We received trace amounts of rain in the Valley. Up top they did a little better, with Caples Lake receiving 1.05 inches of moisture and Markleeville getting a half inch. Expect a chance of rain or snow today, but not much of it.
