The R-C Morning Report for Dec. 11
Genoa, Nev. — The Share Your Christmas Drive-by Food Drive is underway at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. We’ll be checking in through the day and have the final stats when it wraps up at 6 p.m.
Road controls are in effect not only all around most of Lake Tahoe and the passes through the Sierra, but also on Highway 395 from Reno to Carson City, through the Pine Nuts and up the Walker River Canyon.
Zephyr Cove Elementary School students will be picked up at their main bus stops only this morning. Whittell doesn’t meet on Friday.
There’s snow on the ground in Genoa where my stick cam (I don’t have the camera part) shows just under 3 inches of snow.
A National Weather Service observer at 7,334 feet near Glenbrook reported 10 inches of snow had fallen over the last 24 hours. A winter storm warning at Lake Tahoe and a winter weather advisory for Carson Valley has been extended to 10 a.m., so expect a slick ride into work.
Expect scattered snow showers today before 4 p.m. under mostly cloudy skies with the high near 38 degrees. The forecast is for less than half an inch of accumulation today, and I think we’ll see a lot of melting. Next storm’s rolling in on Sunday.
