Genoa, Nev. — An extension of County Manager Larry Werner’s contract was approved through December 2017. The contract still allows either Werner or the county to terminate the contract with three-weeks’ notice District Attorney Doug Ritchie said.

Meanwhile, former Douglas County Manager Jim Nichols is in negotiations to take a job as city manager in Des Moines, Wash. Des Moines is located south of SeaTac, and according to the 2010 Census has 30,000 people.

“Catch a Wave” will be performing in Minden Park tonight as part of the GE Concert Series. Music starts at 6 p.m. Chairs start arriving around now.

We had to move stuff around at the last minute for today’s paper, so the index is just wrong. There’s definitely a ballot inside on page 31, but the puzzles got bumped off for today. They’ll be back on Sunday.

Expect sunny skies and a high temperature in the upper 80s today. There will be wind out of the west, 5-10 mph, increasing to 10-15 mph. Gusts could hit 25 mph.
