The R-C Morning Report for Aug. 31

Genoa, Nev. — With the President arriving in Stateline this afternoon, expect traffic up there to be a nightmare. Better to save that trip to the beach for Labor Day weekend.

Douglas and South Lake Tahoe authorities were looking for a man with long black hair and a shotgun on Tuesday night. I don’t know how that turned out, but I’ll check today. There was also an early morning report of a fire behind the Raley’s in South Lake Tahoe near the Heavenly Gondola.

The red flag goes up in Western Nevada at 2-8 p.m. for critical fire weather. Gusty winds and low humidity will make any spark a potential conflagration. So don’t cause any sparks.

Expect hazy skies with a high temperature of 86 degrees. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5-10 mph, increasing to 15-20 mph in the afternoon, with gusts of up to 30 mph. The good news is that on the other end of this thing, the high temperatures cool off for a bit.
