The R-C Morning Report for Aug. 31
August 31, 2015
Genoa, Nev. — A 61-year-old Carson City man is expected to enter a guilty plea in Douglas County District Court today. Dennis Myers is facing charges of trafficking and sales of a controlled substance. In exchange for his pleas, other charges in Carson and elsewhere will be dropped.
Douglas County has the highest number of natural amenities in Nevada, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The report, which was issued in 1999, was the subject of a recent Washington Post story. Douglas comes in 22 on the list of every county in the United States. We are also the first county on the list that isn't in California or Colorado. Mono's No. 17, Alpine's No. 26 and Carson City is No. 27.
It looks like we got through our red flag warning without any major conflagrations in Western Nevada at least. Many of the big Western fires are in the process of being put down, so that's good news, too.
Expect a reasonably warm day today, with the high hitting 87 degrees under sunny skies with a light wind becoming southwest 10-15 mph in the afternoon.
