Genoa, Nev. — The bus route that leads from South Lake Tahoe to Carson City will have to go through Carson Valley to take advantage of $1 million in federal funding designated for rural areas, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
A Topaz Ranch Estates man accused of putting a gun to a teenager’s head on New Year’s Eve 2015 is scheduled to be arraigned in Douglas County District Court today. Gary Walker is suffering from mental health issues.
The Sierra Market was closed on Thursday night by order of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, according to a notice on the Gardnerville store’s doors. I’ll check on that further today.
A 1.8 magnitude earthquake hit at 8:23 p.m. Sunday near Leviathan Mine Road over on the California side.
A fire weather watch has been issued for 1-9 p.m. Tuesday. I expect the red flag will go up sometime later this morning for that day. Gusty winds and low humidity will make for critical fire weather.
For today, expect hazy skies and sunny with a high near 91 degrees and wind out of the west 5-10 mph, gusting to 20 mph.
