August 25, 2015
Genoa, Nev. — We may see some smoke from the 51,794-ace Rough Fire burning in Kings Canyon National Park due west of Independence. Mono and Inyo counties will get the worst of it, but the Weather Service says haze could get as far north as Interstate 80.
The Associated Press picked up a Lake Tahoe News story that the El Dorado County School Superintendent Jeremy Meyers was sentenced to five days in jail on a June 9 DUI. He told the Lake Tahoe news through a statement that he was sorry. In California, superintendent is an elected position.
A California woman is expected to plead guilty today to unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, a gross misdemeanor. Helen Auth, 51, has been in custody since June 23 after the missing vehicle was found in Placerville.
Today will be sunny with a high near 89 degrees and a southwest wind 5-10 mph, turning northeast later this morning.
