Genoa, Nev. — Firefighters will escort fallen comrade Michael “Mikey” Hallenbeck from South Lake Tahoe over Echo Summit to Green Valley Mortuary in Rescue, Calif. The procession starts at the “Y” at 10 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol reported some big rocks on Tioga Pass Road at Blue Slide late last night. The report was for rocks 3-feet wide.

A 21-hour red flag warning for extreme fire danger goes into effect at 2 p.m. today. It’s going to be windy through the evening and into the night as a low pressure system blasts through, with temperatures in the mid-90s on the other side.

The wind’s supposed to pick up around 2 p.m. and will keep gusting until 4 a.m. Friday. Today’s high temperature is expected to hit 87 degrees.
