The R-C Morning Report for April 25
The annual Law Enforcement Memorial Run started Thursday in Las Vegas and is winding its way to Carson City where the memorial ceremony will be held May 1. The runners usually come through Carson Valley on the day before, so we should get to see them on Wednesday.
You might need the Pony Express to get a letter on the pony for this year’s annual ride. The deadline to send in an application for a commemorative letter is May 1. Letters produced by the Pony Express are $5. Personal letters cost $10. For an application visit http://www.xphomestation.com. Riders will leave from Sacramento on June 11 this year and will ride through Woodfords.
There’s a winter weather advisory for Stateline until 11 p.m. as snow showers are predicted for higher elevations this morning and again this afternoon. The National Weather Service is calling for 2-5 inches of snow below 7,000 feet and 5-10 inches above 7,000 feet with higher amounts near the crest.
It was drizzling a bit when I left for work, but it looks like it’s stopped for now. Hopefully that’s not the 70 percent chance of rain we’re supposed to have. The forecast calls for rain after noon, with mostly cloudy skies and a high temperature near 53 degrees. The low tonight will dip a toe below freezing and repeat on Saturday night.
