The R-C Morning Report
January 4, 2011
The town boards of Gardnerville and Genoa hold their first meetings of the new year today. Gardnerville meets 4:30 p.m. and will discuss among other things the acquisition of property from the Hellwinkel Family Trust for Martin Slough. Genoans meet at 6:30 p.m. and are looking at sprucing up the town with a bell, and setting a date for the annual town hall meeting.
A woman who let 12-year-old sitting in her lap steer the car because she was too drunk to drive, but apparently not too drunk to work the pedals, is scheduled to appear before Judge Dave Gamble this morning for sentencing. Misty McCollister, 35, faces up to five years in prison after she admitted to one count of attempted child abuse or neglect.
It’s cold out now, but not as cold as it’s going to be. Today expect sunny skies with a high that barely cracks freezing. Tonight the low is expected to plunge down to 3 degrees. We won’t see a low of warmer than 8 until Friday night.
