The R-C Morning Report
September 2, 2010
The R-C betting line is running 2-1 against county commissioners selecting a justice of the peace at their meeting this afternoon. One insider said two commissioners have come to the conclusion that picking someone after 35 3-minute presentations is going to be too much and another is already onboard. The JP discussion is first up after consent agenda, so expect an answer early this afternoon.
Commissioners will also get an earful from residents who recently discovered they are in the Fairgrounds water system. The commission meets at 1 p.m. today in the Douglas County commission chambers, located inside the historic Minden courthouse, 1616 Eighth St. Water rate increases are hitting all of the county’s water systems.
Gardnerville Ranchos residents who believe the improvement district’s weed spraying is killing their foliage can file a claim with the district’s insurer. The Ranchos improvement district board voted to stop using the brand of herbicide blamed in the deaths.
The weather today is forecast to be sunny and clear with a high not quite hitting 90. The breeze will pick up this afternoon. Expect Friday to hit the low 90s. The wind will pick up on Saturday and another low will bring cooler temperatures back.
