An injury accident at Highway 395 and Johnson Lane blocked both northbound lanes. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 5:52 a.m. Traffic is being allowed through and the Highway Patrol is asking people to use caution there.
Firefighting officials are reporting there may be smoke spreading into the Valley from the Highway fire burning near the state line along Interstate 80. There won’t be nearly as much here as there will be in Truckee Meadows. Shifting winds today are expected to send smoke east.
Choral students from Douglas High School and the middle schools will combine to present a concert at the high school 7 p.m. tonight. Singer Jennifer Zabelsky will perform. The high school’s jazz and concert choirs and the Madrigals will sing. The high school is located in Minden south of the intersection of highways 395 and 88. Admission is a $3 donation. The Elks will be hosting their taco night 7 p.m. at the lodge located at 1276 Pit Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Tacos are $1 each and proceeds go to support the Elks’ activities in the Valley.
