The R-C Morning Report
May 2, 2007
The wind’s blowing and of course that means a wind advisory through Washoe Valley. The only snow and chain requirement his morning is over Mount Rose Highway.
There’s a 50 percent chance of rain and a 100 percent chance of wind today with gusts hitting 40 mph in the Sierra and Western Nevada this evening. Even stronger gusts are expected in Mono and Mineral counties.
Snow levels will drop to 5,500 feet by this afternoon and to the Valley floors by Thursday morning. That means more in terms of cold than in actual snow, as this thing is getting shredded over the Sierra. The Weather Service is betting even money there will be some sort of precipitation today. Rain is supposed to stick around through Friday and then its clear sailing for a bit.
In the road work department, a crew is doing maintenance on Cradlebaugh and its companion bridge on Highway 395 between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The highway will be reduced to one lane so be careful through there. Highway 50 is again a mess today.
The Minden Town Board meets at 6 p.m. tonight in the CVIC Hall. Gardnerville Ranchos General Improvement District trustees meet at 7 p.m. in their offices on Mitch Drive.
