The R-C Morning Report

by Kurt Hildebrand

Wind’s blowing this morning, but I can tell we haven’t seen any precipitation from this storm yet. Road controls are in effect for the high Sierra, including Carson Pass and Echo Summit, and there’s a westbound chain check on Interstate 80. Both Heavenly and Kirkwood are reporting an inch of snow during the last 24 hours.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued by the National Weather Service this morning says the storm will affect the Sierra and Western Nevada into tonight. A foot of snow is possible in the higher elevations of the central Sierra through tonight, with up to 2 inches possible in the Valleys.

We may be at the forecast high temperature for the day this morning at 35 degrees. It should get colder as the day progresses with winds 25-30 mph slowing down in the afternoon. Gusts could get up to 40 mph.
