A lightning strike set a small fire in Weed Heights above Yerington on Thursday afternoon. It was supposed to our turn today, but the predicted thunderstorms have been pushed back to Sunday. What hasn’t been pushed back is the red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service for 1-11 p.m. today.

The Elks Summerfest Carnival continues today through the weekend. It starts at 5 p.m. today, but will begin at noon on Saturday and Sunday. The carnival is located at Lampe Park.

United Blood Services is hosting a blood drive at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. For more information, call 785-6621.

The high temperature is supposed to cool off today, hitting 92 degrees with a light southwest wind in the morning. The breeze will pick up tonight, with some gusty winds up to 25 mph.
