The R-C Morning Report
July 9, 2012
A Gardnerville man is scheduled to be arraigned on a charge of sexual assault on a 5-year-old girl this morning in Douglas County District Court. Jamie P. Voyer, 31, is charged with felony counts of sexual assault against a child under age 14. He could face life in prison. If he appears this morning, he’ll enter a plea in the charges and Judge Michael Gibbons will set another court date.
Douglas County commissioners are scheduled to participate in a four-hour emergency management refresher training today starting at 1 p.m. in the Emergency Operations Center, located at 1694 County Road in Minden.
Our high temperatures will continue their march toward the century mark this week, finally arriving on Wednesday or Thursday. Today’s forecast is for sunny skies, with a high near 93 and west winds 5-10 mph increasing to 10-15 mph for the zephyr. Reno tied its 1985 and 2007 high temperature record on Sunday with 99 degrees. Stay hydrated, avoid exertion in the middle of the day and for Pete’s sake, don’t leave pets or children unattended in cars.
