The Genoa Town Board will be honoring former member and businesswoman Sue Knight for her efforts on behalf of the town. Knight organizes the concerts in the park, and has been pivotal in many events that bring people to Nevada’s first settlement. The town board meets at 6:30 p.m. in the town hall and Sue is first up.
Also meeting on this Independence Day Eve is the Gardnerville Town Board, who will hear a design review for a telecommunications pole at 1324 Waterloo Lane near Meadow Lane. Town board members will also discuss submitting a grant to the state for the fourth phase of the Martin Slough project. Gardnerville meets 4:30 p.m. at the town offices, 1407 Main St.
The California Highway Patrol is responding to an accident at Highway 395 and the Mammoth Lakes turnoff. The CHP Web site reports the accident occurred at 5:42 a.m. and involved a silver Audi, which is about 10 feet off the road on its roof. Two of the vehicle’s occupants are reporting injuries.
More than 300 firefighters are working a couple of blazes in the Reno area, including the 150-acre Pineview fire off Lakeridge Drive and the 200-acre Ironwood fire near the Pyramid Highway. No structures have been lost as of last report.
Today’s weather will be sunny and warm, with the high temperature in Minden continuing its slow climb upward into the 90s.
