A man who menaced a woman with a hatchet is facing up to six years in prison at sentencing today in Douglas County District Court. Joseph J. Lokting, 28, admitted in May to a charge of assault with a deadly weapon in the January incident.
A man who admitted to possession of cocaine faces up to four years and a fine of $5,000 in District Court this morning. Titus Whiteside, 34, pleaded guilty in March after he was arrested Aug. 20, 2011, in a Stateline casino. Under an agreement, prosecutors are seeking a 30-month prison sentence.

If it’s in the burned portion, I’ve watched ash devils that looked just like smoke plumes, so it’s understandable people might think there’s a fire.
Today will be sunny and warm with a high temperature approaching 90 degrees and a west wind this afternoon of 5-10 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with the wind 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.
