A winter weather advisory is in effect for Western Nevada through 4 p.m. today as bands of light to moderate snow are expected to develop in Carson Valley later this morning. Commuters should expect 1-3 inches of snow north of Highway 50, with 2-4 inches above 5,000 feet.

There’s a vehicle accident with injury at the intersection of highways 50 and 395 in Carson City and a couple of minor accidents on the freeways up in Reno. There are a few road controls this morning, including Highway 50 between Carson and Stateline and Highway 88 from Fredericksburg over Carson Pass.

Expect some sort of snow to fall by 4 p.m. today. The Weather Service is forecasting 1-2 inches accumulation is possible today. The high temperature today will hit 34 degrees and we’ll see a west wind at 10 mph.
