Hospice Foundation had to be rescued after he suffered frostbite while snowshoeing across the Sierra through Yosemite National Park. Colin Skinner, 46, visited a local hospice in Bishop before running into trouble on Saturday, when he contacted rangers with wet clothing and frostbitten feat, according to the Mono County Sheriff’s Office. Mono County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team members drove snowmobiles to the Tioga Pass entrance, and transported him to Mammoth Hospital for treatment.
The 26-year-old son of a Douglas County sheriff’s captain faces up to five years in prison after he admitted he pointed a loaded gun at his father who was intervening in a child custody dispute. Matthew D. Aymami said he had no intention of shooting his father when he pleaded guilty to one count of attempted assault with a deadly weapon. Judge Dave Gamble could also sentence Aymami to probation.
It’s only going to be mostly sunny today as the high temperature climbs to 57 degrees. Expect a light breeze out of the south shifting to the east. There’s still no sign of moisture on the horizon.
