A meeting to take comments on a new community & senior center is 6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Senior Center. The session will give people an opportunity to talk about what they’d like to see in the new center.
The trails meeting packed the Genoa Town Hall on Wednesday night. The Carson Valley Trails Association had a pretty successful year in 2011, and they’re looking forward to another good year in 2012.
Gold Star Wives of America has announced the formation of its first Northern Nevada chapter. The group, founded in 1945, is a national organization of widows and widowers whose spouses have died while on active military duty or as a result of a military service-connected cause. The group’s first meeting will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 2 at the VFW Hall, 730 4th Street, Sparks.
There’s still a little rain in the forecast for this evening, with the National Weather Service calling for a chance of isolated showers after 4 p.m. Otherwise, the weather will be mostly sunny, but a tad breezy with west winds 5-15 mph gusting to 25 mph.
