A Gardnerville Ranchos man accused of molesting a 13-year-old neighbor girl waived his preliminary hearing in East Fork Justices Court on Wednesday. Jon Slaatte, 47, is scheduled to be arraigned in Douglas County District Court on Jan. 25. The girl’s mother was also supposed to make an appearance on charges of child abuse, but her case was continued.
The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension folks will host a presentation on radon 6:30 p.m. today in Stateline at the TRPA meeting room on Market Street. They’ll be down at the CVIC Hall in Minden next Thursday.
For those of a more historical bent, Guy Rocha will be talking about Hank Monk and Horace Greeley 7 p.m. tonight at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in beautiful downtown Gardnerville. The cost to get into the museum is $3 for nonmembers.
Today is the 69th day without measurable precipitation in Minden, and there still isn’t any on the horizon. The high today will be 48 degrees under sunny skies. We may see some weather on Sunday, though it will just be windy, not wet.
