Douglas County commissioners will discuss exploring what the rate structure for a single Carson Valley water system would look like at their regular meeting 1 p.m. today at the historic Douglas County courthouse in Minden.
Commissioners will also discuss the termination of Soar Minden’s Airport Land Lease. Soar Minden’s Tony Sabino remains defiant as ever after his authorization to sell fuel was pulled last year. He has also refused to remove his fueling equipment, prompting today’s possible action.
In other soaring news, Channel 2 meteorologist Mike Algier went up with Minden glider pilot and record-holder Gordon Boettger. The broadcast was aired on Wednesday, where it can be seen on the Channel 2 Web site.
A 12-hour wind advisory takes effect starting at 8 a.m. today as a powerful storm front charges through Western Nevada. Expect winds 25-35 mph gusting to 55 mph today, with locally higher gusts in the foothills. If it’s going to rain or snow today, expect that to happen right around the 5 p.m. commute. The Weather Service is forecasting a tenth of an inch of rain and an inch of snow overnight.
