Happy Nevada Day, everyone. School’s out today, as are county and state offices. The Dangberg Home Ranch will be hosting an exhibit of historic clothing as part of its Nevada Day celebration. The self-guided tours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $5 for adults and free for children 16 and younger. Call 783-9417 for details.
Dozens of residents in Minden and Gardnerville reported feeling a magnitude 4.7 earthquake that occurred late Wednesday night northwest of Reno. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, 29 Gardnerville residents and 23 Minden residents reported feeling the quake. Thirty-two Glenbrook residents also reported feeling the quake, which was centered 12 miles southwest of Loyalton.
The weather will be clear and cool with sunny skies and a high of 62 degrees. The lows are starting to rebound a little bit, with the temperature at 26 degrees in Genoa and 23 in the low parts of the Valley. According to the Weather Service, the low at about 8 a.m. Saturday for form-up in the Nevada Day Parade will be about 30 degrees, so dress in layers.
