A mom who admitted taking her children shoplifting is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court this morning for sentencing on a charge of grand larceny. Lea Elizabeth Bacon-McCauley, 47, was arrested for shoplifting at the WalMart. She allegedly told deputies she intended to bring the stolen items back and use the cash to buy school supplies.

A 26-year-old Carson City man who took jewelry, silverware and other items worth $27,000 from family members is also scheduled to appear today before Judge Dave Gamble for sentencing on a charge of grand larceny. Timothy M. Jenkins faces up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine and restitution. He said he’s a regular heroin user.

There’ll be sunny skies today through Friday, but the slightest hint of precipitation before the end of the month. The forecast is calling for a slight chance for rain showers on Sunday. We’ll see what actually turns up.
