The R-C Morning Report
January 21, 2011
Last night parents met about changes at Gardnerville and Pinon Hills elementary schools to discuss changes there. On Tuesday, Lisa Noonan will be at Jacks Valley Elementary School to talk about grade configurations once Douglas High School converts to 9-12 in 2015. That meeting is 5 p.m.
Lack of moisture and warm temperatures have brought at least one spot down in the Sierra below 100 percent snowpack today. Spratt Creek is running 84 percent for the day. Fortunately, most of the sites, such as Poison Flat, Ebbetts Pass and Monitor Pass are still well ahead of average for the date, according to the Natural Resource Conservation Service. Ebbetts is running 149 percent average, while Poison Flat is at 177 percent average.
Today won’t be much of a help. Expect mostly sunny weather today with a high at 54 degrees. The low tonight will drop down below freezing to 26. There’s no moisture in the forecast through next Thursday.
