The March 2 R-C Morning Report

Genoa, Nev. — It has already been a long morning, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. Snow’s been falling in Genoa since around midnight with 6 inches as of 5:30 a.m.

Power is out to 105 NV Energy customers in Douglas County with 65 of those in Fish Springs. Restoration time will be between 7:45 and 8:15 a.m. for almost all those folks. There are 14 customers for whom the restoration time is not available.

Commissioners approved a settlement and an agreement with the Washoe Tribe that will allow the county to finish linking the east and west water lines. The deal cost the county around $99,000 to run the line along Jacks Valley Road through tribal lands.

A winter weather advisory is in effect through 10 a.m. Saturday as these storms stack up. We could see another 2-5 inches of snow tonight after it picks up again this afternoon. It’s going to be a bumpy commute this morning.

Today there’s a 50 percent chance of snow under mostly cloudy skies with a high temperature near 37 degrees. The wind will be out of the southwest at 15-20 mph gusting to 30 mph, which will pick up that snow and blow it all around. More of the same on Saturday.
