Genoa, Nev. — Road controls are still in place for several mountains roads, including Kingsbury Grade and Highway 50 from the state line to Spooner. Interstate 80 and highways 50 and 88 all have some sort of chain controls over the mountain.
Road temperatures in the Valley are well below freezing so watch out for slick conditions.
Two skiers were rescued by Douglas County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue after getting stuck at Motts Canyon on Thursday night just as it was starting to snow again.
Despite this week’s storms, Minden is still short almost a third of an inch of average for January. So far, the county seat has received. .92 inches, and it looks like that’s all Mother Nature is going to write for this month.
Heavenly is reporting 28 inches of new snow over the past week, with a base depth of 40 inches. Today should be nice whether you’re skiing or looking at eagles with partly sunny skies and a high near 43 degrees. The wind will be light at 5 mph before calming entirely.
