Tahoe Youth & Family Services hosts annual Night of Giving
Tahoe Youth & Family Services is hosting their fifth annual Night of Giving 4:30-6:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Gardnerville office.
Guests are invited to bring monetary or supply donations and enjoy light refreshments.
“Tahoe Youth & Family Services is primarily a street outreach for youths so the goal of the event each year is to try and generate not only recognition of what we do, but to provide for our outreach and drop in centers here in Gardnerville and Lake Tahoe,” Administrative assistant Melinda Matus said.
Being an outreach for homeless teens, TYFS is asking for donations of new or gently used sleeping bags, warm socks, hand warmers and outdoor packs for the winter months.
Donatons of toilet paper, paper towels and kleenex help with the running of the offices and drop in centers.
“We are also looking for unrestricted funds,” Matus said. “We run primarily by grants, but we have needs like copy paper and office supplies and if it is unrestricted funds, we can use if for whatever the organization needs at that time.”
Donations may also be dropped off at the office if you are unable to attend the event.
Drop off times are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday at 1512 Highway 395, Suite 3, Gardnerville.
“We want to welcome the commnity to come see our new office, since we just moved in the last couple of months,” Matus said. “It would be nice for the community, especially here in Gardnerville, to get a feel of what we are and what we do so maybe next time when they are at CostCo they will think ‘I’ll grab some pens or some copy paper.’”
