Taco Bell plans near completion
Taco Bell will be the newest fast food restaurant to come to Gardnerville.
The design review for the project was approved by the Gardnerville Town Board on June 12.
The 1,944 square foot building with a drive-through will be located on the north corner of Waterloo Lane and Highway 395. The Taco Bell will be on the premises of Smith’s grocery store, next to Jack-in-the-Box, which is currently under construction.
The project was actually approved in November 1995 with changes in the building appearance requested.
The window designs have been changed from arches to rectangles and will be made of metal instead of tile. The roof is also to be made of metal. These changes, along with the color of the building, are all consistent with Smith’s as is the landscaping.
While no specific date is set, officials said they hope to begin construction this summer.
