Swimming & Diving: Wolf Pack Diver wins weekly honor
DENVER – San Jose State’s Kirsten Trammell and Nevada’s Grace Huang have been named the Verizon WAC Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for the week of Oct. 24-30.
Trammell, a senior from Goodyear, Ariz. (Xavier College Prep), won six events over two meets last week, swimming some of her top times personally and ranking nationally, as she helped lead San Jose State to a 2-0 record with dual meet wins over UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis. Against UC Santa Cruz, Trammell won four events as she was part of two winning relays (200 medley and 200 freestyle). She also turned in victories in the 200 backstroke and a personal-best 58.67 in the 100 butterfly.
Against UC Davis, Trammell won the 100 breaststroke with a personal-best 1:03.31. The time was a pool record for the SJSU Aquatics Center and ranks 25th nationally and first in the WAC. She also swam the breaststroke leg of the winning 200 medley relay, which swam a pool record 1:43.16, a time that ranks first in the WAC and 16th nationally. Trammell was also second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.70 (second in the WAC).
