Stateline woman in serious condition after accident

A Stateline woman is in serious condition at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno after colliding head-on with a bus on Kingsbury Grade Wednesday morning.

Savannah Malena Amos, 19, was eastbound on Kingsbury Grade near Juniper Drive at 8:49 a.m. when she crossed the center line and collided with a BlueGo bus coming down the hill, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Amos had to be cut out of the black Jeep Cherokee she was driving by Tahoe Douglas firefighters.

She suffered broken bones and facial injuries in the accident.

She was helicoptered for treatment by CalStar.

A puppy sitting on Amos’ lap was killed in the accident. An adult dog, a golden retriever mix, was ejected in the accident and ran away.

Kingsbury was closed for about two hours after the accident, reopening about 11 a.m.
